Living Partition
This commission is a double sided living partition which was hung in the Salt Building, the living room of the Athlete's Village, during the Vancouver Olympic in 2010.
This installation will be permanently installed in September 2010 at the Centre for Integrated Research on Sustainability at the University of British Colombia, in Vancouver Canada.
Living Lanterns
These lanterns were designed by James Desjardins. MUBI was invited to collaborate by designing and integrating the living component which supports strawberries and wintergreens.
MUBI is a design firm that fosters mutually beneficial exchanges between the natural world and our built environment. Our products are conceived to make biodiversity and urban agriculture accessible to all, even the most compact dwellings. And in doing so, to improve the air, to provide habitat and food, to absorb noise and to create oases of tranquility within the hard-edged city.Geneviève Noël principal Geneviève is an industrial designer passionately dedicated to the regeneration of our environment. She also has planted over 1 million native trees.MUBI: Mycelium Urban Biodiversity InterfaceThe mycelium enables a symbiotic relationship between trees and fungi. It facilitates the transfer of salts and minerals to trees, while trees provide photosynthates and water to its fruiting body, the mushroom.
